Childfind

School districts are responsible for providing special education services to any child age 3 to 21 years of age who have been identified as having a disability that interferes with their learning process.  Services may include speech/language therapy, occupational and/or physical therapy, and early childhood special education interventions that enhance the child’s educational experiences.

Parents who have concerns about the developmental progress of their child (birth to 5-year old children born after October 1st) can contact the district office to schedule an evaluation.  A multi-disciplinary team will evaluate the child’s development and make recommendations.

For those students who are birth to 2 years old, the child find team works closely with Envision to develop an Individualized Family Support Plan (IFSP) with services and support to address developmental delays determined in the evaluation process. All services are provided in the home or the community at no cost to the parent/guardians.

For those students who are 3-4 years old and 5 years old born after October 1st, the child find team works closely with early childhood special education staff to evaluate and determine eligibility for services provided under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Exceptional Children's Education Act of Colorado (ECDA).  All services are provided in district preschool classrooms at no cost to parents/guardians.

If you are interested in a developmental evaluation for your child, please contact us at the number below.
