Parent Communication: November 13th

Parents and Guardians,

With the return to remote learning next week until January 6, 2021, we want to make sure that your child and you have a clear understanding regarding what this will look like.  Based on feedback from the last two weeks, we have tweaked and altered a few things to better support your child.

Your child has been accessing their learning via Google Classroom during our recent closure.  During remote learning, your child will continue to access curriculum in the same manner as if he/she is learning virtually.  Each teacher will post an attendance question, video, and assignment daily by 10 a.m. for your child to complete if they want to do their learning asynchronously (whenever they choose).  We STRONGLY encourage your child to attend the daily live Zoom sessions Monday-Thursday to receive instruction directly from the teacher.  Continuity and structure is important for our Mustangs, and we really want them to be in the daily Zoom classes.  Students will have work posted beginning on Monday, November 16th with our Zoom class schedule beginning on Tuesday, November 17th.  We will not have Period 1 (Enrichment) meet during remote learning.  Zoom links are posted in the "classwork" section of Google Classroom.  We will be following the schedule below for live zoom classes:

  • Period 2: 8:40 - 9:10
  • Period 3: 9:15 - 9:45
  • Period 4: 9:50 - 10:20
  • Period 5: 10:25 - 10:55
  • Period 6: 11:00 - 11:30
  • Period 7: 11:35 - 12:05
  • Lunch: 12:05 - 1:00
  • Office Hours: 1:00 - 2:00

In the event, your family does not have internet access, please let me know, and administration will arrange to have paper copies created for your child to continue their education until our return to in-person learning.  Paper copies will need to be picked up weekly from the school's main office.  The first pickup day will be on Friday, November 20th between 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.  All other pick-ups will be on Mondays from 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Remote learning can be difficult for some children, and our staff is committed to supporting them.  As we move forward, we are going to utilize some of our staff to provide tutoring support to students.  Support will look like one on one or small group meetings via Zoom.  If your child would benefit from additional support outside of the daily Zoom class or social emotional support from one of our mental health team members, please contact Mr. Plaisance at alan.plaisance@weldre5j.org.
We continue to be here to help!  Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Thanks!
Principal  Sanders
