Child Find

Children 3 to 21 years

School districts are responsible for providing special education services to any child age 3 to 21 years of age who have been identified as having a disability that interferes with their learning process.  Services may include speech/language therapy, occupational and/or physical therapy, and early childhood special education interventions that enhance the child’s educational experiences. If you have concerns please contact the Child Find Coordinator.

For those students who are 3 or 4 years old, the Child Find team works closely with early childhood special education staff to evaluate and determine eligibility for services provided under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Exceptional Children's Education Act of Colorado (ECDA).  All services are provided in district preschool classrooms at no cost to parents/guardians.

Children birth to 2 years, 11 months

Parents who have concerns about the developmental progress of their child (birth to 2 years, 11 months old children born after October 1st) can refer their child through Early Intervention Colorado.

If you or someone else has a concern about the way a baby or toddler is growing or developing, Early Intervention (EI) Colorado can help. An EI Colorado evaluation will determine if a child could use some extra support or if they are right on track.

Making a referral to EI Colorado is quick and easy. Depending on your preference, you can make a referral online, by phone, email, or fax:

A child may be automatically eligible for Early Intervention services if he or she has a diagnosis with a high probability of resulting in a significant developmental delay as determined by a panel of physicians. All diagnoses are reviewed and approved by a panel and Early intervention Colorado maintains the database of all diagnosed conditions.
