9 RHS students qualify for Future Business Leaders of America nationals

Nine Roosevelt High School students will compete at a national competition after qualifying at the 2024 Colorado Future Business Leaders of America Leadership Conference.

Roosevelt High School’s team of 42 had 24 students who earned a top 10 spot and nine students who qualified for nationals at the conference, according to a Weld RE-5J news release.

Yaelyn Chavez has been elected as the new Colorado Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) president, and Annabelle Rusco became the new Colorado FBLA vice president of education. Chavez made the top 10 in Business Management, and Rusco took home first place in the Introduction to FBLA, the release said.

  • Peter Hollywood won third place in Introduction to FBLA.
  • Maleah Calderon and Alexa Tovar won fourth place in Social Media Strategies.
  • Colten Schlagel won fourth place in Insurance and Risk Management.
  • Maile Sedey won fourth place in Introduction to Financial Math.
  • Marlo Abrahamson and Kelbee Ammirati made the top 10 in Visual Design.
  • Luke Anderson made the top 10 in Securities and Investments.
  • Daniel Gabelman and Owen Harden made the top 10 in Introduction to Programming.
  • Sean Gibson made the top 10 in Introduction to Information Technology.
  • Courtney Hanna made the top 10 in Introduction to FBLA.
  • Brandon Johnson made the top 10 in Computer Applications.
  • Jules Price made the top 10 in Business Communications.
  • Takumi Rieser, Kevin Schwab and Pacey Walker made the top 10 in Business Ethics.
  • Ashleigh Sassano made the top 10 in Business Ethics.
  • Nariah Stanley made the top 10 in Introduction to Business Procedures.

The national competition will take place this summer in Orlando, Florida.

“These achievements reflect the dedication and hard work of our students and the support they have received from our staff, families and community,” the release said.
