Counseling Office

Welcome to the Counseling Program at Pioneer Ridge Elementary!

We are excited for another great year at Pioneer Ridge! I’m excited to be starting a new role after teaching here for 12 years! I’m here to support students, teachers and parents in having a successful year of learning academically as well as emotionally and socially.

The counseling program consists of individual counseling, group counseling, and a character education program. In addition, we are going to be implementing a new program called In Focus.

In Focus focuses on social and emotional development which is crucial for students’ success. I will be supporting teachers in implementing this new program into their classrooms.

Individual and group counseling is comprised of learning new skills and expanding current skills in topics such as: school success, friendships, anger management, social skills, grief and self-esteem.  Students can be referred by parent/guardian, teachers, administrators or a self-referral.

Our character education program will help students learn key character traits such as respect, trustworthiness, and responsibility. Lessons will be taught in the classrooms as needed.

If you have any questions please call me at 587-8158 or email at enelson@weldre5j.org.

Sincerely,

Erin Nelson, Counselor
