Milliken Road Closures - Bus Route Changes

Under Construction

Parents and Guardians,

Our school district found out on Wednesday of this week that the Town of Milliken will be doing multiple road projects that will affect the majority of our bus routes. The district transportation department was not part of the planning process and we were only made aware of this recently.  The closures will affect all 6 schools in the district and the projects will last for 3-4 months per the Town of Milliken. With road closures and road chip seals we will need to change our bus pickup and drop off location in Centennial Farms and with every road closure, we must change how our bus drivers drive their routes.  This could make the bus routes longer, the bus pickup times later in the morning, and arrival to schools and home in the afternoon could experience a 15-30 minute delay. After a few days of running on these modified bus routes, we will have a better idea of the impact and could change routes even further. Please keep checking the district webpage for updated information on routes.

Please read carefully to see if and how your child’s bus route is affected.  These changes will begin Monday, September 16, 2019. We will keep you informed as we get updates from the Town of Milliken and the developers working on the projects.

***Bus stop being moved:  Centennial Farms stop will be moved from Growers Dr. and Ranchers Dr. on the east side of the park.  The new location will be on Ranchers Dr. midway between S. Cattleman Dr. and S. Cora Ave on the north side of the street.

This will affect route 33 orange to and from Knowledge Quest Academy.

This will also affect route 32 orange to and from Milliken Middle School, Roosevelt High School, and Milliken Elementary.

***Quentine Ave. closed at CR 46

Having this intersection closed will affect the following:

Route 30 - red which picks up Knowledge Quest Academy students at Pioneer Ridge Elementary from Route 33 orange in the PM and then drops them off west of Johnstown proper. This will also make Route 30 red late for picking up students at Pioneer Ridge Elementary in the PM due to Route 33 orange being delayed.

Route 32 - orange goes Quentine/CR21 and Inez/CR 46 six times every day and will now have to drive approx 5 miles out of the way each time to pick up students in Wildcat Acres subdivision and Peregrine Creek subdivision.  Our driver has made efforts to contact families in these subdivision, if you haven’t heard from the Transportation Department, please call 970-587-4202. The driver will not have direct access to Dove Creek subdivision so will therefore need to drive about 4-5 miles out of the way to pickup and drop off students. The driver also picks up and drops off in Centennial Farms after coming back from Wildcat Acres so will now need to come into town on CR 44 and 21 and enter Centennial Farms from the east which will add about 4-5 additional miles for Milliken Elementary, Milliken Middle School and Roosevelt High School.

Route 33-  orange will now need to drive approx 4-5 miles out of the way coming out of Wildcat Acres to access Centennial Farms from the east going to and from Knowledge Quest Academy.  This will also delay the driver when picking up and dropping off students at Letford Elementary.

Mid-day and PM route (Special Education) going to and from Milliken Elementary pre-school will now have to divert through town adding time and miles resulting in late drop off from AM pre-school and late arrival for PM pre-school.

Milliken Elementary Special Education route dropping off students will be delayed for 1 student in Centennial Farms.

***CR 46 closed at Colony Trail to CR 25

Having this road closed will affect the following:

Route 33 - orange going to and from Knowledge Quest Academy.

Route 27 - green going to and from Knowledge Quest Academy.

Route 30 - red sending and receiving kids at Pioneer Ridge Elementary to go to and from Knowledge Quest Academy from Route 33.

Milliken Elementary Special Education route dropping off will be delayed for 1 student in Settlers Village.

***CR 46 at Colony Trail to RR tracks

Having this road closed will affect the following:

Route 33 - orange going to and from Knowledge Quest Academy.

Route 27 - green going to and from Knowledge Quest Academy.

Route 30 - red sending and receiving kids at Pioneer Ridge Elementary to go to and from Knowledge Quest Academy from Route 33.

***Centennial Farm Subdivision

The chip sealing project within this subdivision could possibly affect:

Route 33 - orange

Route 32 - orange

Below is a detailed description directly from the Town of Milliken about the work being done beginning September 16, 2019:

County Road 46/Inez Blvd – Widening, Paving, Curb and Gutter: This project is set to start next week and should be completed by the end of November.  This project will have full road closures throughout CR 46, however, it will be completed in phases.

County Road 46/Inez Blvd – Utility Installation: The Sunfield Subdivision will be installing a Sewer Connection in CR 46 between S Colony Trail Drive and Dawner Lane.   This project will require full road closure is set to take place the week of September 23rd. This project is being completed by the developer and is not a Town Project.

Alice Ave South of CR 46/Inez Blvd – Utility Installation: The Sunfield Subdivision will be installing Sewer Connection near the intersection of Alice Ave and Rancher Drive.   This project will consist of partial lane closures and should take place the week September 16th. This project is being completed by the Developer and is not a Town Project.

Centennial Farms Micro-Surfacing: The Centennial Farms Subdivision will be Micro-Surfaced starting next week and is set to be completed in November. Once the Town receives the project map with timelines we will post additional information.

Quentine Ave – Mill and Overlay: Quentine Ave from Hwy 60 to Inez will receive a Mill and Overlay the week of Oct 7th.   This project will have partial lane closures and will last approximately two (2) weeks.

We understand this may cause delays with traffic and appreciate your patience while these projects are completed.  Your child will not be marked tardy during these delays.

These are all the changes that we are aware of involving the Town of Milliken.

Larimer County Road 7 south from Hwy 56 (west of I-25) will be closed effective 9/16/19 for approximately 4 weeks.  This will affect route 30 red for Knowledge Quest Academy, Milliken Middle School, Roosevelt High School, & Pioneer Ridge Elementary in both AM & PM as our driver goes to this subdivision 4 times every day.  It will add approx 10 minutes each time to this route . This includes the Serenity Ridge subdivision, Northmoor Acres, as well as several stops on country roads.

We received a call today from the Town of Johnstown.  There will be a chip seal project that will also affect our routes in Johnstown.  This project will begin Wednesday, September 18, 2019. We will notify you as soon as we have updates from the Town of Johnstown on this project and how it will affect your child’s bus routes.  There is some information on the file below.
